Facebook Voice is a new feature that allows you to switch easily between your Personal Profile and your Business Pages.

For business owners with one page, it was tricky enough to ensure you were posting as the right entity but, for those of us who manage more than one business page, it used to be a right performance. You either had to set the permissions so that it was checked to make sure that every time you posted on the Page it was as the Page but that had drawbacks because sometimes I wanted to post on the wall as myself because I was also a client so I would have to go in and switch it off before I could like or comment.

The alternative was to switch between Pages using the dropdown menu beside the Home key and select the Use Facebook As function. But when it was first brought in, this was affected by whether you had set the permissions anyway. And, more recently, it seemed to be very hit and miss as to whether it would work. I was always forgetting to check the top of the page to ensure I was logged in as the Page so it got very confusing.

Why it is important to post in the right Voice

The trouble is that, if you post as yourself, any status updates go into a different section of the wall at the right hand side of your page with much less visibility. So you want to be posting as your Page to ensure that the status updates appear in full at the top left of the wall.

How to use Facebook Voice

When you are using your Business Page, it is set as default to show the Voice. You can click on the Voice button next to the Home key to hide it.

If it is activated, then you will see that ‘you are posting, commenting and liking as [name of personal profile]. Change to [name of page]‘ Remember, sometimes it’s the other way around depending on which Voice you were in when you got to the Page in the first place.

So if you want to post as yourself on your page but you are in Page mode, you just click to change. And if you want to post as your Page when you are in personal profile mode, click on the page name to change it.
