Help! Facebook Changed My Business Page To A Community Page

One of my client’s local business pages was mysteriously changed to a community page for martial arts overnight and he was not sure how it had happened or, more importantly, how to change it back.
Gone was the status of his 55 likes, the number of people talking about the page and the number of people who had checked in – it just said Community Page about Martial Arts! And there was a link to another page about Martial Arts.
How To Change a Facebook Community Page Back to a Business Page
Going into the admin dashboard, I selected Edit Page and then chose Basic Information from the left hand sidebar. At the top of the page, you can see the two drop down menus where you can select whether you want to be a local business and then what sub section of that. These were still filled in.
But underneath was another menu which now bore the keywords Martial Arts.
I clicked the x at the end of the box to delete martial arts and make that box blank. Then I saved by going to the bottom of that page and pressing the save changes button.
Back to View Page and the Community Page notification had gone and his stats returned.
Now there may be some issues with this if you have more than 55 likes so be aware. Some people have been able to find the screen or even an email that allows them to contact Facebook to report the issue.
If you have been able to contact Facebook, please can you let us know – and also how many fans you had so we can try to work out what number will prevent the manoeuvre to work around their unilateral decision as described above.
We now have two links with contact forms to tell Facebook that they have made a mistake in turning business pages into Community Pages, although not too much evidence of a response or reversal.

Update! The good news is that one of our readers tried entering her details on the forms in these links and mysteriously, her page has been returned to its previous Business listing. There was no notification from Facebook so, once you have submitted, you need to keep checking to see if anything has happened.

Hi,
I am having the same problem, but clicking the x in the box, leaving it blank & saving it did not eliminate the message that my business page has been changed to a community page. In that message, there is a hyperlink for “let us know” if you think it was mistake, but it just takes you to the help center. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!
