My iPhone Wont Connect To The Internet
My iPhone is at it again and this time it won’t let me connect to the internet! After my experience with the camera roll being obscured by the album, the loss of a year’s worth of business contacts when I followed the instructions to upgrade to os5 and then not being able to work with iTunes and Windows 7 because of a BEX error, it started to give me yet another episode of grief.
For the last three days it would not connect to the internet when I was outside the house. In the house and in range of my WiFi, it was fine but when I tried to connect to my email messages and work away from the office, it would have none of it.
Sometimes I would get a message about the gmail app but then it started talking about being unable to connect to the server. I checked all the usual things and switched the WiFi off and on, as well as checking that all my accounts were set up properly but the fact that it could connect to my WiFi suggested that it was something to do with the mobile internet provision.
However, before getting on the phone to 3 Customer Services, I thought I would just google ‘My iphone wont connect to the internet’. And, lo, the answer presented itself.
iPhone Lost Internet Connection
Via PC World, an interesting article on the various annoyances that plague the patient iPhone owner.
If your iPhone is failing to connect to the Internet via your cellular data network, try resetting the phone. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time, and hold them past when you see the ‘slide to power off’ option. After that disappears, you’ll see the silver Apple icon, and your phone will start up again.
How to reset the iPhone
So, of course, then I googled how do I reset my iPhone to make sure that I was pressing the right buttons and found:
So, basically, that’s reset the iPhone by pressing the button on the top and the circular button on the front at the same time and hold them down until the screen goes black. Then press the button on the top until the Apple appears and allow it to do its stuff. Mine seemed to take an age to do anything but I realised that it was short on battery so I plugged in and it sprang back to life almost immediately.
How to connect an iphone to WiFi
In order to check that the connection had been re-established, I switched off the WiFi connection in settings and accessed my inboxes. All loaded up beautifully again. So I went back into settings and re-activated my WiFi connection.
