Social Media For Business #7 – Spread Your Posts Throughout The Day

As mentioned previously in Social Media For Business #6 – Post Consistently, both Guy Kawasaki and Don Crowther recommend that you spread your posts throughout the day.

This allows for people at work, those in different time zones, those who read in the morning over a cup of coffee, those who peruse Twitter and Facebook with their sandwich at lunchtime and those who read in the evening as they wind down after dinner.

If you Google it, there are statistics available which will tell you the most effective times to schedule your status updates and get the biggest audience. I believe that, in most timezones it is 7-9am and 12-2pm – when most office workers are getting ready to start their working day or taking their lunch. But, since everyone and his dog is probably trying to catch their attention at that time, it’s a good idea to repeat your best posts at less obvious times. Guy Kawaski told us that he would send out his sets of tweets four times a day in an attempt to reach as many people as possible.

Don’s advice is to avoid the feast or famine strategy.

So use scheduler on Tweetdeck and Hootsuite or the Buffer add on to Google Chrome.
